Art Section

Art and free expression of our organization leads us to our sole beginnings as "peacemakers". It was a true art surviving and fighting for everything that we have today.

“New era” for new art has started and we would like to share it with you.

Art-Connected: intercultural relation between young people from Vukovar and Art students of Ottersberg – Germany

The artistic activity opens up life prospects. This is the basis of educating in social aspect which means building relations between people.

Art section has started cooperation with students from Germany, Art and Theaterstudents from the Fachhochshule Ottersberg www.fh-ottersberg.de and YPG “Danube” through project Art Connected, where students from Germany have been visiting us for three years now. In Vukovar they were making painting and theater workshops with children and youth from Vukovar and it’s surrounding, as well as with people from our organization. Each year after their visit, a group from our organization and Volunteer Center Zagreb, has been going to Ottersberg, where the students of that school have teach them about, theatre, sculpture making and painting. After returning to Vukovar, with knowledge and new experiences, volunteers and members are continuing cooperation with students from Ottersberg and organizing different art workshops.

As a result of that cooperation, in YPGD have come new youth worker for one year, Liisa Antonia Bueren from Bremen, who completed education in Ottersberg as an Art-pedagog. She was one of the first students that came to Vukovar from Ottersberg and lead art workshops. Liisa is leading art-workshops: painting, drawning, printing, creative writing, as well as the performance work (modern theater and dance); Capuera classes, traditional Brazilian fighting dance.

Our future plans are to spread this king of art and culture in town as well as to help establish a theatre scene in Vukovar. In this way we would like to give a chance to young people in our town to express them selves in this way and to show their possible talents in this field. If young people show interest in this, they could visit Ottersberg and work for few days with students that are regularly studying this form of art.
